WhiteWater Saturday

  • The Gorge 11349 Folsom Boulevard Rancho Cordova, CA, 95742 United States (map)

RSVPs for this and all future Rafting trips will only be accepted through the NorCal Rafting Meetup.

http://www.meetup.com/NorCalRaft/

Please join the Norcal Rafting Meetup to RSVP for this and all future rafting trips.

Join Norcal Rafters as we take on the entire South Fork of The American River starting at Chili Bar and ending at Salmon Falls Bridge. This is a 21 mile adventure, running such rapids as Meat Grinder, Trouble Maker and Hospital Bar! The river is running fast and high with a lot fewer flat spots than last year, so this trip should be a lot of fun! WhiteWater Photography will also be at Troublemaker, Satans Cesspool, and Hospital Bar in order to accurately catch your experience "frame by frame" so you can take your trip home with you.

This season is being called a "high water" season due to the extensive snowfall in the Sierras. The usual speed of the river (measured in CFS or cubic feet per second) was around 1750 cfs last year, but this season the average has been in the high 4000`s to low 5000`s! You can check out the current flow at www.norcalraft.com to see what you`re in for!

The weather should be in the 80`s, but a wetsuit is still recommended. We will supply the PDFs as well as the paddles.  If you want to use your own PFD, understand that because of the high and fast water, a Class V or certified whitewater rafting PFD (lifejacket) is required. Canoe/Kayak/Waterski (these are usually class III) or similar PFDs will not be allowed on the river.

You can rent a wetsuit at:

California Canoe & Kayak
11349 Folsom Blvd, Suite C
Rancho Cordova, CA 95742

Or if CCK is out, please call Sierra Outdoor Center and ask for GUY or Courtney to reserve a wetsuit.

Wetsuits are $15 per day. We will supply the Class V PDFs as well as the paddles. Wetsuits will only be needed until the temp gets in the high 80`s low 90`s.

Come on out and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the South Fork of the American, and be prepared to have LOTSA FUN in the Coloma Sun. Just bring yourself and big smile!
